Between 2008 and 2011 Mercedes produced 350 of this illustrious Black Series model. Of those, 175 were sold in the US. This specific car was first sold by Mercedes-Benz of Indianapolis in Indiana, and is now available for viewing in the San Francsico Bay Area.

This SL65 AMG Black Series is finished in Obsidian Black over black leather upholstery, and power comes from a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 with upgrades from RENNtech. This is paired with a paddle-shifted five-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Compared to the contemporary SL65, Black Series cars featured widened Black Series carbon-fiber bodywork, a fixed carbon-fiber roof, an adjustable suspension, slotted and drilled brake rotors, 19″ and 20″ forged AMG wheels, Electronic Stability Control, and carbon-fiber interior trim. Additional features include dual-zone automatic climate control, Keyless Go, and COMAND navigation.

This example is finished in Obsidian Black (197U), and features include bi-xenon headlamps with washers and adaptive cornering, tinted side marker lenses, a speed-sensitive carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser. Paint protection film is fitted on the front bumper, hood, grille, fenders, mirrors, side sills, and portions of the quarter panels.

The forged 19" and 20" AMG twin-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 265/35 front and 325/30 rear Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT tires. The track is widened by 4.5” at the front and 4.1” at the rear compared to a standard SL65, and the car features an active-roll stabilization system and Electronic Stability Control. Stopping power is provided by silver AMG-branded calipers over slotted and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.

The cabin features power-adjustable seats trimmed in Exclusive black leather (531A), along with a color-matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Carbon-fiber trim is found throughout the cabin, and features include dual-zone automatic climate control, COMAND infotainment with navigation, Keyless Go, and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. The shift knob denotes the car as one of 175 designated for the US market. The leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel has paddle shifters. Instrumentation includes a 220-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges.

The hand-assembled 6.0-liter V12 features enlarged twin turbochargers that are unique to Black Series cars, and it was factory rated at 661 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. The RENNtech mods increased horsepower to over 800. A plaque bearing the name of the engine’s builder is affixed to the engine cover. An included box features a plaque engraved with the car’s VIN, and houses a factory car cover as well as a letter signed by the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA.

The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage.
